A woman is giving a presentation in a conference room with a projection screen displaying text in Irish. There are several people in the audience, and a table with a laptop and water bottles is at the front of the room. The ceiling has recessed lighting and air vents.

Hi, I’m Eímear Geraghty.

I'm a writer and cultural commentator living on Inis Meáin, the middle Aran Island off the west coast of Galway. I have a degree in Irish literature, I've spent years working across the Irish language and business sectors, and I started The Tapestry because the publication I wanted to read didn't exist: serious, engaged writing about Irish culture that goes deeper than the headlines.

My Approach

I'm interested in the questions underneath the headlines. Why does Irish culture keep producing extraordinary things? What does Irishness actually mean? Where does the language fit into all of it? The goal is always to leave the reader with an understanding of Ireland that they didn't have before.

Curious

Every topic gets the research it deserves. That means sitting with complexity and being genuinely interested in where something comes from.

Respectful

I won't talk down a person or a tradition to make a point. Irish culture in all its forms deserves to be treated seriously, and so do the people who engage with it here. That goes both ways.

Transparent

You'll always know what's behind the work: where the research came from, when something is a paid partnership, and what I'm still figuring out.
